Grilled Ham and Cheese Sandwich
What You Will Need for Two Sandwiches:
Four Slices of Bread (I used the new, healthier white wheat bread)
Ham, Deli Sliced; Two to four slices per sandwich
Cheese (about one ounce equals a slice)
Butter
Spray Oil
Salt and Pepper to Taste
Spray the pan or griddle with nonstick oil and set to medium low heat.
Assemble the sandwiches and put a little butter on the outside to help give the bread crispness and flavor.
Place on the pre-heated griddle/pan and press down firmly with a spatula for several seconds. Then let sit and cook till browned. Flip with the spatula and repeat the process.
Serve warm with some healthy baked chips or tortillas on the side.
Carrot and celery sticks on the side would work too.
Using different kinds of bread such as, rye or sesame seed, can make a common sandwich uncommon.
Adding extras such as sliced onions or mild or hot peppers can take this sandwich from lunch time to supper time.
