Healthier Fast Food Tips

Eating on the run makes it more challenging to eat well but there are ways to minimize the damage done and to maximize the benefits.

Tips are in no particular order:

1. Order grilled chicken on sandwiches or salads instead of
fried chicken.

2. Ask for light or no mayonaisse.

3. Red meat is higher in calories and fat than grilled chicken but it does have certain nutrients that make it an okay choice occassionally.

4. Don’t add bacon or cheese to your sandwich or salad. However, if you really want the added flavor, just use one piece of bacon cut into pieces to distribute throughout the salad or sandwich and throw away the rest or save it for later. The same with cheese, ask for light cheese or just one slice of cheese.

5. Some chicken places automatically butter the bun, ask for no butter or light butter to save on calories.

6. Get take out and when you get home with it you can put your chicken or beef on your high fiber, whole grain bread and use light ketchup for your fries or low fat dressing for your salad.
